Honda's sports car hybrid, CR-Z, was one of the most anticipated vehicles to come from Honda in years. Since the success of the Japanese auto maker's affordable Insight hybrid car, Honda fans have been asking for more green vehicles. One again, honda has delivered.

Honda has achieved an award for their contribution to the green auto industry. After many years of producing solid, environmentally friendly automobiles to customers world wide - the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has noticed Honda for having the most fuel efficient cars.

It all began in the 1970's - Honda produced a line of two-cylinder engines to help cope with the global fuel shortage crisis. Those engines were rated at up to 50 miles to the gallon.

The first-generation Honda Insight achieved 53 miles per gallon which was followed by the 1986-1987 Honda Civic Coupe HF.
